The
Management Board of the Slovenian Managers Association elected Janez Škrabec,
director of Riko, as Manager of the year 2017. At yesterday's ceremony at the
Managers' Congress in Portorož, the award, which is considered one of the most
prominent ones for high-profile economic achievements, was handed over to Mr. Škrabec by Andrej Božič, last year's laureate of the Manager association and
the chairman of the commission for the selection of the recipient of the
Manager of the Year award in the period 2017-2020.
In the 21 years since Janez Škrabec
founded Riko d.o.o. at the age of 33, he has developed the company into a
leading Slovenian engineering company. At the heart of its work, Riko is
setting up a networking of companies that create high-profile and high-value
stories, all while investing above-average in socially responsible projects,
thus forming a unique business model.
In their justification of the award the
Manager Association emphasize that the measurable achievements are significant,
all while the leadership position of Janez Škrabec is distinguished by an
innovative leadership approach and a sustainable attitude. Janez Škrabec has
also innovatively included culture, art and sports in his business model, and
his contributions to the development and growth of the environment and
communities are remarkable. Riko is not only an entrepreneurial story that
creates a sustainable attitude towards the environment but also towards the employees.
Many of the prizes awarded prove Janez Škrabec’s high reputation in Slovenia as
well as abroad.
