After being renovated, the barn at the Škrabec homestead has only kept the outer appearance of a barn. Today, it has a cultural, communicational, medial and business mission within the context of the homestead. Its interior has been entirely refurbished into a spacious hall for seminars and exhibitions.
Below the entrance into the renovated multi-purpose “barn” stand the pillar sculptures created by four Slovene sculptors: Jokov Brdar, Stane Jarm, Matjaž Počivavška and Mirsad Begić. The interior of the barn is rounded off by the original spatial arrangement of works from the cycle “Preserving dreams” by Begić.
The wooden barn has been constructed using the construction system for Riko wood houses, and is the central room for various events which fill and enrich the refurbished rooms of the homestead. Be it meetings with interested guests, lectures, discussions, readings and performances - the Škrabec homestead will always find new ways to attract the best, most popular, sometimes boldly provocative thinkers, creators and witty performers.
