History
RIKO began in the 1960s, evolving from the JOR workshop for sports and medical equipment into Ribniška industrija kovinske opreme. In the 1990s, RIKO transitioned from manufacturing to providing advanced technological solutions for the automotive sector. Its continued diversification and expansion laid the foundation for its reputation as a leading provider of green and digital innovation.

JOR workshop
The JOR workshop opens in Ribnica, producing sports equipment and other products. Later the facility expands to medical equipment and agricultural tools and equipment.

Nationalization of the Workshop
After the nationalization, part of the JOR workshop evolved into the District Metal Company (Okrajno kovinsko podjetje)
1948

Renaming to Ribniška kovinska industrija Ribnica na Dolenjskem
The company is renamed RIKO – Ribniška kovinska industrija Ribnica na Dolenjskem and specializes in the production of agricultural equipment, later expanding its activities to include the production of airport equipment, snowplows, snow cannons, spreaders, and more.
1969

Rapid Development
RIKO extends its area of operation to the automotive industry and household appliances. RIKO establishes its Moscow office, which is successfully headed by director Dragoljub Djordjević.
1980

Transformation into the engineering company RIKO, d.o.o.
RIKO discontinues its former primary business operation. It is transformed into RIKO Ltd. and begins to further develop its engineering-related businesses.
1990

Breakthrough in the Automotive Industry
RIKO becomes a strategic partner to major players in the Russian and Belarusian automotive industries, such as Avtovaz, Avtodizel, MAZ, MZT, MZTK, Belaz, and Gomselmash.
1990–2015

Diversification
RIKO expands into the fields of energy and transport infrastructure, as well as intralogistics systems and construction. RIKO also began establishing its presence in Slovenia.
2002

Entering New Markets
RIKO, and Raven Group, and YOO Group begin collaborating on the construction of The Lakes residential development near Oxford, England.
2005

Opening of the Peter I Hotel
The construction of the Peter I Hotel in Moscow, Russia is concluded that year under the leadership of RIKO.
2006

Beginning environmental protection activities
RIKO rounds off its activity by engaging in environmental engineering.
2007

Entry into the North Macedonian Market
RIKO begins collaborating with the Republic of North Macedonia on the preparation of strategic waste management documents.

Starck with RIKO
RIKO signs a cooperation agreement with celebrated French designer, Philippe Starck.
2008

Center for water treatment in Barje, Ljubljana
RIKO successfully completes the construction of a purification plant for non-dangerous waste.

Breakthrough into the energy sector in Belarus
RIKO enters the Belarusian energy sector by securing contracts to build and upgrade transformer stations in and around Minsk.

Sveta Petka Hydropower Plant
RIKO completes and inaugurates the Sveta Petka Hydropower Plant on the Treska River in North Macedonia as a turnkey project.

Wooden kindergarten in Ribnica
RIKO completes a wooden kindergarten in Ribnica and begins construction on a similar eco-friendly facility in Murska Sobota.

Breakthrough into the energy sector in Slovenia
RIKO signs a key contract with HESS to supply hydromechanical systems for Slovenia’s Brežice HPP.
2013

First P.A.T.H. House in Montfort L'Amaury
RIKO and Starck complete and unveil the first P.A.T.H. house in Montfort L’Amaury, marking a milestone in sustainable living.

Reservoir and overflow spillway for the Brežice HPP
RIKO contracts to build a reservoir and dam for the Brežice HPP, featuring a high-capacity overflow spillway.

Successfully completed environmental projects in Slovenia
RIKO successfully completes multiple environmental infrastructure projects in Slovenia, including water systems in Bela Krajina and wastewater treatment plants in Zasavje, Litija, Šmartno pri Litiji, and Idrija.
